Parkview Students Provided with an Opportunity to Allow theirCareer Aspirations to “Take Off”

Six students from Parkview Academy’s Life Skills Suite were last week provided with a bespoke
tour around Rochester Airport.
One of our learners has a passion for planes and spends much of his enrichment time studying
makes and models of airplanes and watching the flight paths they take above the school. This
inspired the school to ask if we could have a tour of the airport. We were delighted when the
Airport Manager gave us the green light for the trip.
Students were shown a huge variety of light aircrafts stored in the hangars at the airport and
were allowed to watch the runway and see the controls from the control tower. Sadly the
weather was too bad for them to see any planes land, but they enjoyed the experience all the
same.
We held a discussion with students about career opportunities at the airport, which was
brought to life when we were able to see the different vehicles needed at the airport.
Students also considered the new airport and control tower which is close to being finished.
Parkview Academy would like to thank Airport Manager Kelvin for being a great host and sparing
his time.
